This is similar to the mage ability Frostfire Bolt, in that the lower of the two resistances (in this case shadow and fire) on your target will be used for calculating its damage. Additionally, Fel Flame refreshes the duration of Immolate and Unstable Affliction. Our goal for Fel Flame is to provide a spell that's good for mobility and for use by Destruction and Demonology specs. Also, did we mention it uses green fire? Yep. Instant cast.</span></blockquote> </span></span></div><div><span><span><br />I'd imagine Fel Flame wouldn't be doing much damage, but rather being used mostly for its DoT refreshing aspect. This will also give warlocks something to do while mobile other than Life Tap or put some other DoTs back up. With the way DoT clipping is being reworked in Cataclysm, we won't have to worry about the exact moment we need to cast this, just make sure it's not too late. They mention Demo and Destro, but I can also imagine this being useful for Affli locks, giving them a way to refresh UA while on the move. Also, it's green fire. It could do nothing but look pretty and I'd still probably use it in an encounter.</span></span></div><div><span><span><br /></span></span></div><div><blockquote>Dark Intent (level 83): <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Increases the target's chance for a critical effect with periodic damage or healing spells by 3%. When the target lands a crit, you get a buff to your damage for 10 seconds. This effect stacks up to three times. </span></blockquote></div><div><span><span><br /></span></span></div><div><span><span>This would probably work out like the mage's current </span><a href="http://www.wowhead.com/spell=54646">Focus Magic</a><span>. By that I mean that the greedy warlocks will give it to each other. The smart warlocks (aren't we all?) will give it to class that crits a lot and the player that does the most damage.</span></span></div><div><span><span><br /></span></span></div><div><span><span><blockquote>Demon Soul (level 85): <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Fuses the warlock's soul with his or her demon. This provides warlocks with a self-burst cooldown to use. The specific effects granted by Demon Soul depend on the demon chosen. Demon Soul lasts for a certain number of charges or until it expires (around 20 seconds), depending on the demon used. 2-minute cooldown. </span></blockquote><div><span><span><br /></span></span></div>Demon Soul seems like an all-spec, conditional use version of Metamorphosis. Depending on which demon you have out it's going to give a different buff/effect. Voidwalker and Succubus would probably be defensive effects that PvPers would use. I wouldn't mind seeing the Felhunter's effect giving us some sort of interrupt/silence component to our next cast or something fancy like that. Imp and Felguard will probably be offensive DPS buffs. That's how I see it planned out at least.</span></span></div><div><span><span><br /></span></span></div><div><span><span><div></div><blockquote><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Soul Shard Overhaul </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">This major change regarding Soul Shards was previously announced at BlizzCon 2009. Soul Shards will no longer be inventory items, but instead a new UI resource mechanic. Warlocks will have 3 Soul Shards that can be used during a fight and will not be able to gain additional shards during combat. Soul Shards will not be required outside of combat. Soul Burn will consume a Soul Shard resource, thereby allowing you to use the secondary effects of some spells. Soul Burn has no mana or health costs and is off the global cooldown. Planned secondary effects are outlined here.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Summon Demon + Soul Burn = summon the demon instantly. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Drain Life + Soul Burn = Reduces cast speed by 60%. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Demonic Circle + Soul Burn = Increases movement speed by 50% for 8 seconds after teleporting. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Unstable Affliction + Soul Burn = Instantly deals damage equal to 30% of its effect. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Soul Fire + Soul Burn = Instant cast. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Healthstone + Soul Burn = Increases total health by 20% for 8 seconds. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Searing Pain + Soul Burn = Increases the crit chance of Searing Pain by 100%, and subsequent Searing Pain spells by 50% for 6 seconds.</span></div></blockquote><div></div><div><br /></div><div>This isn't something we haven't seen before, but some comments are still necessary. The Drain Life will give a really quick heal. If you add a Death Coil after that channel and I'd imagine you'd pretty much get back to full health if your healer is busy. I'm talking mostly from a PvP perspective. Outside that it will help with soloing and levelling.</div><div><br /></div><div>The UA effect is interesting as it's something warlock have long been asking for. A sort of swiftmend for DoTs, providing a quick burst spell that affliction. What's really going to affect how useful Soul Burn is on a long term boss fight depends on the mechanic Blizzard decides to give us for refreshing the Soul Shards.</div><div><br /></div><div>Most of these do seem PvP oriented, so hopefully we'll see more spells added to this list.</div><div><br /></div><div>One thing to note is that they will remove our Soul Shard Bags and turn them into normal slot bags, first reducing the size of course; so don't vendor them just yet.</div><div><br /></div><div><div></div><blockquote><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Changes to Abilities and Mechanics</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">All warlock damage-over-time (DoT) spells will benefit from crit and haste innately. Haste will no longer act to reduce the DoT's duration, but rather to add additional ticks. When reapplying a DoT, you can no longer "clip" the final tick. Instead, this will just add duration to the spell, similar to how Everlasting Affliction currently works. </span></div></blockquote><div></div></div><div><br /></div><div>As mentioned above with Fel Flame, they're going to change the way refreshing DoTs works. Currently, when you recast a DoT over an existing one that has not done its full duration, it 'removes' that DoT and replaces it with the fresh one. This means that any DoT ticks that would've happened are lost, usually due to lag or other circumstances, the last tick of some of your DoTs never happens.</div><div><br /></div><div>With this change instead of the DoT being removed, its duration will be refreshed. This way there won't be a last tick to clip, and makes me a happy warlock.</div><div><br /></div><div><blockquote><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Curse of Agony and Curse of Doom will be converted into Bane of Agony and Bane of Doom. Bane spells are considered magic instead of curses. This means you will be able to cast one Bane (e.g. Bane of Agony) and one Curse (e.g. Curse of Elements) on a single target. </span></blockquote></div><div><br /></div><div>Not much to say about this one. Warlocks will no longer lose DPS to keep Curse of Elements up. A welcome improvement.</div><div><br /></div><div><blockquote><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Hellfire will no longer deal damage to the warlock.</span> </blockquote></div><div><br /></div><div>Right now this might seem like a bad change, but Zarhym stated in that thread they want Hellfire to be the AoE for Demo locks, SoC for Affli and RoF for Destro.</div><div><br /></div><div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"></span></div><blockquote><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Imps will lose Fire Shield, but will gain a new ability, Burning Ember, which is a stacking DoT. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">The succubus melee range will be increased. The succubus will no longer have Soothing Kiss, but will instead have Whiplash, which knocks back all enemies within 8 yards. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Voidwalker Torment will do increased damage and generate a lot of area-of-effect (AoE) threat. Suffering will become a single-target taunt.</span></div></blockquote><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"></span></div></div><div><br /></div><div>The changes they're doing to update warlock demons are interesting so far, and I hope they do more than this. Whiplash seems like we could have some fun with it, but again it's more of a PvP oriented ability. The Voidwalker change would make AoE Levelling/Grinding easier and help make our blueberry a better tank. Burning Ember will simply replace a useless spell on the Imp's bar with a more useful one. I'm all for making Belfip more powerful.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><div></div><blockquote><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">New Talents and Talent Changes</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Pandemic will now cause Drain Soul to refresh Unstable Affliction and Bane of Agony on targets below 25% health. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">The ability Fel Domination will be removed (because Soul Burn accomplishes the same effect). </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Demonology will gain a new direct-damage spell, Demon Bolt. Demon Bolt will add a debuff that improves the damage done by the demon to the target. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">We plan to add a new talent, Impending Doom, which will give certain spells a chance to reduce the cooldown on Metamorphosis and Curse of Doom. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Metamorphosis will no longer be subject to demonic crowd control. Furthermore, abilities available only while under the effects of Metamorphosis will be altered to put more emphasis on the warlock's own spells.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Shadowburn will now do additional damage to targets below 25% health.</span></div></blockquote><div></div></div><div><br /></div><div>Seeing as the DoT clipping change made Pandemic less useful, this helps it get back up to the awesome talent status. Affli locks don't seem to need to weave DS and DoTs anymore.</div><div><br /></div><div>While Fel Domination being removes seems justified by Soul Burn, keep in mind that Soul Burn is meant to be one of those awesometime cooldowns to use in a fight. Using it just to re-summon a dead minion seems like a waste. I'd rather instead of remove it, revert it to its 15 minute cooldown.</div><div><br /></div><div>Demon Bolt sounds like a good enough idea. I just hope that Demo doesn't get to the point where the minion accounts for too much of our damage. This could potentially gimp us on boss fights where the warlock specifically is buffed.</div><div><br /></div><div>I'm curious as to how Bane of Doom will work with the way DoT clipping will change and the Impending Doom talent. Will it just add to the duration so that you have a tick and then that added time where the curse does nothing? I guess we'll have to wait for further details.</div><div><br /></div><div>I'm not really entirely sure what they mean by the Metamorphosis comment. Don't they want us to use the Metamorphosis spells as much as we are? Or do they want the opposite?</div><div><br /></div><div>The Shadowburn change mostly seems like a PvP burst buff, but we don't know anything on the rest of the Destro tree, so it might find itself in our PvE rotation.</div><div><br /></div><div><div></div><blockquote><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Affliction </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Spell Damage </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Spell Crit </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Shadow DoTs </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Demonology </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Spell Damage </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Spell Haste </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Demon Damage </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Destruction </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Spell Damage </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Spell Critical Damage </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Fire Direct Damage </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Shadow DoTs: The damage caused by Shadow damage-over-time spells is increased. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Demon Damage: The damage caused by pets and Metamorphosis is increased. </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#33CCFF;">Fire Direct Damage: The damage caused by Fire direct damage spells is increased. </span></div></blockquote><div></div></div><div><br /></div><div>I'm disappointed with the mastery system. I understand what it's there for, but I was expecting something slightly funner. Right now for warlocks it just seems that they took out the boring talents and put them into mastery instead. Shadow priests, for example, have a visual affect to accompany their shadow mastery. Something fun like that might go a long way. But these are only previews, and the game is still being developed, so I can't complain just yet.</div><div><br /></div><div>Apart from the original posts we were also given some more preview snippets. One of the more interesting bits of information is that they haven't ruled out giving us a new pet yet. They just need to decide what niche it would fill. However if they do it, it will be similar to the Infernal and Doomguard. They're also going to change these so they work like shaman elementals, in the sense that they won't dismiss our current pet when used.</div><div><br /></div><div>They also like the idea of letting us reskin our minions like the druid forms, but not solid word on that just yet.</div><div><br /></div><div>That's all we've gotten so far. It's gonna be interesting seeing any new changes develop from these and I'll definitely try to keep giving my opinion on these changes. It's been a while.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></span></span></div><div><div></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872113081481009463.post-76465734985527585962010-04-07T03:13:00.002+02:002010-04-07T03:47:39.188+02:00Cataclysm ChangesRegarding the Cataclysm changes, I plan on slowly reviving the blog with coverage on warlock changes, along with my opinions and thoughts on the subjects at hand.<div><br /></div><div>When starting this blog I had planned on talking about guilds and the issues that come with one, as well as the issues that plague being an officer and raidleader. The guild has <a href="http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=11030904411&sid=1">stopped raiding</a> over the past month and has gone casual, meaning I play much less. I've also started school again so that's some more things on my mind to get organised with.<div><br /></div><div>This pretty much sums up why the last two weeks had no new posts.</div><div><br /></div><div><div>I'll get back to updating frequently again eventually.</div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872113081481009463.post-26351591572642612112009-10-07T19:58:00.007+02:002009-10-07T20:07:56.751+02:00Life Tap > Mages<div></div><blockquote><div><i>Life Tap Rank 8</i></div><div><i>Instant</i></div><div><i>Converts [1490 + SPI * 3] health into [1490 + SPI * 3] mana. Spirit increases quantity of health converted.</i></div></blockquote><div><br /></div>Life Tap is the core spell in a warlock's arsenal. I'd even go as far as saying that Life Tap is the spell that defines all that warlocks are about. So when I saw a mage say 'oom' four minutes into a boss fight the other day, I couldn't help let loose a little grin.<div><br /></div><div>A new warlocks gets this spell at level six, which doesn't take too long to get to. After this, you should aim to get to level fourteen as fast as possible so you could get Drain Life. What this spell does is obvious from its name. In conjunction with Life Tap, leveling as affliction becomes a real breeze. Sacrificing some health for mana, and then getting that health back from anything you kill is what makes a warlock so awesome while leveling. You never need to stop and drink. You're an unstoppable force in those early levels, and just wait till you get Siphon Life.</div><div><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SszOg03YmmI/AAAAAAAAAH4/r11_5KjcLmk/s1600-h/DrainLife.PNG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 174px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SszOg03YmmI/AAAAAAAAAH4/r11_5KjcLmk/s320/DrainLife.PNG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5389909917397719650" /></a> </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>From those early stages all the way to your first raid, Life Tap's gonna be on your bars. With my somewhat decent raiding gear, Life Tap gives me 2498 mana at the cost of that same amount of health. Something mages could only dream about. For a raiding warlock, it gets even better. Through Glyph of Life Tap, 20% of your spirit gets converted to spellpower which for myself means a 67 spellpower boost. Mind that that's completely unbuffed, the number goes higher with spirit buffs and kings!</div><div><br /></div><div>One more great application for Life Tap, off the top of my head, is to kill yourself. While the spell on its own can't kill you, it fizzles out when you're too low on health to tap, you can use it with Hellfire to get some warlock dying action. That's how awesome we are, we can kill ourselves. Yes, Paladins can do it too but they need someone else to help them do it, so they suck anyway. </div><div><br /></div><div>You may be wondering why a warlock would want to do this. Back in the day I used it to get past the Dire Maul entrance without needing a key for my doomguard quest, dying next to the door and spirit walking through to the other side. The same could be done for Scholomance. A more modern use is to do it when your raidleader calls for a wipe during a boss. Killing yourself gives no durability loss; so it's a neat trick to reduce repair costs.</div><div><br /></div><div>To summarize, Life Tap is awesome, and mages suck for not having it.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SszYSUt5lDI/AAAAAAAAAII/LL_zJAfuolo/s1600-h/LifeTap.PNG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 270px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SszYSUt5lDI/AAAAAAAAAII/LL_zJAfuolo/s320/LifeTap.PNG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5389920663366112306" /></a><br /></div><div><i><br /></i></div><div><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:x-small;">No Dun Morogh critters were harmed in the making of this post. Actually that's a lie, I killed at least thirty rabbits trying to get the perfect Drain Life shot.</span></i></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872113081481009463.post-48305532638130521012009-10-01T02:00:00.000+02:002009-10-02T02:01:50.786+02:00How will people control the beast now?So Blizzard's released some <a href="http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/patchnotes/test-realm-patchnotes.html">PTR notes for 3.3</a>. Among note for warlocks is that they removed the quest for your imp and instead you just learn it from your trainer at level one.<div><br /></div><div><b>WAIT WHAT?!</b></div><div><b><br /></b></div><div>Do they honestly trust an amateur warlock to instantly know how to control their imp? Are they insane? Do they not know the havoc Belfip could've wreaked if it wasn't for that quest? He'd be the 3.3 raid boss, not Arthas, if he were to be set loose.</div><div><br /></div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SsUkknThblI/AAAAAAAAAHw/MJSvQhp5VJM/s1600-h/BelfipDestroyerOfRaids.PNG" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 109px; height: 107px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SsUkknThblI/AAAAAAAAAHw/MJSvQhp5VJM/s320/BelfipDestroyerOfRaids.PNG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5387752740663422546" /></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872113081481009463.post-78342121828031026152009-09-29T21:13:00.005+02:002009-09-29T21:37:09.001+02:00All aboard the failtrainI've recently been looking around other blogs and checking with their authors on some advice on how to get a blog going, and their experiences in the first few weeks. Most have been in about the same position I'm in - a small case of writer's block. Having admitted that, a lot have led me to some blog communities such as the <a href="http://wiki.twistednether.net/">Twisted Nether Wiki</a> and <a href="http://www.blogazeroth.com/">Blog Azeroth</a>. <div><br /></div><div>They both seem to be sites that want to help bloggers like myself get past the first couple of months, especially in those weeks where content just doesn't seem to be flowing. Blog Azeroth, however has a special little thing called 'Shared Topics'. I'm not too sure if I'm doing it properly, but from what I understood someone puts forward an idea, or a question, and everyone makes a blog about post about it!</div><div><br /></div><div>Here's my shot at it then!</div><div><br /><blockquote><i>I am sure this topic has been covered, but among all my other fails I fail at searching.<br /><br />I have noticed a string of my recent posts covered how I fail, often epically. I would like to see how others fail.<br /><br />I think it is very good for newer players to see how those of us make dumb mistakes, even though we have been at this for quite a while.</i></blockquote></div><div><br /></div><div>I know what you're all thinking. How could a warlock as awesome as myself possibly fail at <b>anything</b>? Well sadly I've had my fair share. Most are barely worth mentioning such as that one time I decided to turn my motes into primals while flying very very high up. I've heard some people talk about Gnome pancakes before, but this was taking it to the next level.. of.. flatness?</div><div><br /></div><div>However my most recent and probably most embarrassing was when a bunch of guildies failed at frogger. The boss after Patchwerk but before Grobbulus. You know the one, the boss that truly separates the raiders and the people with 'bad connections'. So I decided to stop one time and just add some salt to the wound. I put up a train set right on the corpse of a poor raider, only to get hit by an oncoming blob myself.</div><div><br /></div><div>I'll have you know that my GM went on about it for the next hour, and made sure to remind me about it every time I decided to put a train set down.</div><div><br /></div><div>Now that I've told you this, you'll do your best to forget about it as soon as possible and never mention it to anyone, ever.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872113081481009463.post-37999648981778054572009-09-21T15:22:00.006+02:002009-09-21T16:23:02.541+02:00It's pinker than I thoughtBrewfest is upon us, and with it come all the things we love and cherish. Ram racing, dark iron dwarves, killing Coren repeatedly.. and the list goes on. More importantly though, is that I get a new mount! Some of of you might already know, but I've been hunting for the Violet Proto-Drake since it was announced. Doing all the festive.. festivities and whatnot. Twelves months have now passed and it's finally mine!<div><br /><div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SreAdpq8mHI/AAAAAAAAAHY/d2Lsow7nJMA/s1600-h/VioletProto.png" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 256px; height: 287px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SreAdpq8mHI/AAAAAAAAAHY/d2Lsow7nJMA/s320/VioletProto.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383913126435264626" /></a></div></div><br /><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SreA3n0Su2I/AAAAAAAAAHg/6nCAtC2PzQo/s1600-h/WoWScrnShot_092109_152119.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 190px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SreA3n0Su2I/AAAAAAAAAHg/6nCAtC2PzQo/s320/WoWScrnShot_092109_152119.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383913572614191970" /></a><br /><div><br /></div><div>It looks awesome, it matches with all the purple gear a warlock is prone to get and more importantly it's fast. It wasn't something I expected, they were a great group of players, and they weren't full of themselves like many top guilds are. It was the guild I applied to before Cake, but got declined as they were full on warlocks. I tried explaining you could never have too many warlocks, but no luck!<div><br /></div><div>This got me thinking. When are guilds due to disband? Cake formed from a disbanded Hide n Seek around the time attunements got removed, so it's fairly new compared to the other top guilds on the server.</div><div><br /></div><div>We did come close to disbanding at one point when we realised most of our core Black Temple raiding team had either left or quit, but there was too much holding the guild together. Because of this soon after we had two officers leaving. As an officer myself the other officers start to become your biggest friends in the guild; they're the ones you trust the most to help with decisions or problems, so when two of them just vanish like that it feels like a huge chunk of the guild left.</div><div><br /></div><div>The last nail in the coffin was when our GM also hinted towards leaving. We were given a heads up that he'd be leaving when 3.2 hit, and then it was announced a few days after that 3.2 was coming out that week. It was a very tense moment and he wasn't about to go back on his word. The other members had no idea what was going on, and it felt like chaos backstage too. Theories on what to do were flying around. Some which included taking the core players that were left and forming a close-knit 10man group. Another was merging with another guild on the server and do shared raids. These were just the tip of the iceberg.</div><div><br /></div><div>We were asking ourselves what we'd do if the guild just disbanded. Some said they'd just stop playing, and I myself said I'd probably transfer off to the server my other friends play on.</div><div><br /></div><div>All that's passed now. We made a smooth transition to a new GM and very few of the members seemed to be affected. We've cleared the Coliseum on normal mode, and are slowly making our way through the Ulduar Hardmodes. While I agree it's late, it seems to be keeping the raiders happy.</div><div><br /></div><div>However, what dawned on me even more is that it's not just our core raid group that's changed, but the attitude of most of the new players who are new to raiding. I'm pointing my blame finger at hardmodes and achievements here. Before people raided simply for the joy of raiding, and the occasional loot drop. Now I notice that players feel like they need to do hardmodes so they can show what awesome raiders they are. While striving for hardmodes is fine, I feel like a lot of players are starting to get sour about it. Cake is not a hardcore guild, we don't kick players if they mess up too much or if they disconnect all night. Because of this, we can't expect to be the best guild ever and it's fine by me, I'm enjoying myself. We're a friendly group of players who like to raid; at least we were. </div><div><br /></div><div>Something's changed, and I'm not sure what. It's got me confused, and constantly thinking about it. Sometimes while raidleading, something happens and I just feel like I don't have the patience for it anymore. Maybe it's me that's changed. Seeing things from on top as an officer, rather than just being another chess piece of a raider. Maybe I'm seeing things that frustrate me. Why can't that guy just move out of the fire in time? Why can't he just read up on what his rotation should be and do more damage than the tank? Why can't they do some research on what they should be gearing for? So many things to look out for when raidleading, and maybe I really don't have the patience for it anymore.</div><div><br /></div><div>Or maybe it's the weather.</div><div><br /></div><div>Blargh.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872113081481009463.post-83160704457194734162009-09-17T03:10:00.005+02:002009-09-18T18:58:31.880+02:00I'm so casualI got my T9 Leggings and Gloves off Koralon this week. I feel dirty.<div><br /></div><div>Now I don't mean to come across as an elitist, but I find there's more satisfaction when you get tier gear from the actual proper raid bosses.<br /><div><br /></div><div>On the bright side, I have 2piece T9 and T8!</div><div><br /></div><div>I'm still unsure on the value of 4piece T9. I averaged it out to be worth around 100 spellpower or so, which is hard to get with two pieces over the T9 bits. I'm also pondering on whether it's going to step up affliction's dps by a reasonable amount. Enough to make me spec into it full-time for raiding so I can get my hands dirty in some PvP instead of my current destruction PvE spec.</div><div><br /></div><div>Of course, this means the raid will be left without its local replenishment supplier, since our retlol has vanished.</div><div><br /></div><div>But there are some things you'll just have to get used to.</div><div><br /></div><div>Or I could just never touch PvP and ruin the whole point of this post.</div><div><br /></div><div>Well, half the point.</div><div><br /></div><div>Half a point?</div><div><br /></div><div>What?</div><div><br /></div><div>Bah.</div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872113081481009463.post-84583564995214211092009-09-12T09:35:00.002+02:002009-09-12T16:46:47.063+02:00I think I broke it..Heartbreaker down!<div><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SqurBy9E31I/AAAAAAAAAHI/TZYPVPQYORk/s1600-h/WoWScrnShot_091009_222815.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SqurBy9E31I/AAAAAAAAAHI/TZYPVPQYORk/s320/WoWScrnShot_091009_222815.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380582227170352978" /></a><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>It's been a confusing couple of weeks. Between having raiders who eagerly want to do hardmodes, even if we wipe a lot, and raiders who don't want to do them at all. We've had to decide and it's mostly come down to 'We'll try once or twice and move on.' But this week we set out a game plan.</div><div><br /></div><div>Guild MOTD last Tuesday:</div><div><br /></div><div>"<i>ASSIGNMENT: Study Ulduar Hard Modes - start with XT and Hodir</i>"</div><div><br /></div><div>Well I doubt a lot of people actually did that, but we gave XT some good hard tries and he eventually dropped. Here's some things I've managed to pick up from each encounter that would help you do that little extra more.</div><div><br /></div><b>Gormok</b> - This fight is extremely easy and you shouldn't need to do anything other than stand and kill stuff. It's a good idea to run into the melee if you get an annoying snobold on your back, that way it gets hit with their AoE attacks.<div><br /><div><b>Acidmaw and Dreadscale</b> - At the start of the fight try and get a Demonic Circle up near your Dreadscale tank. This way you can make sure you get rid of your Paralytic Toxin as fast as possible.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>Icehowl</b> - This fight is extremely trivial, however if you are having a knockback with the charge here's a good tip. Drop a circle, and strafe a bit left or right from it. After the knockback stun wears off you can quickly teleport out of the way if you're the charge target.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>Lord Jaraxxus</b> - There's nothing complicated to this fight. if your guild asks you to drop the legion flames on the outer edge, feel free to drop a circle there to please them.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>Faction Champions</b> - I don't look for dps in this fight, but rather control and efficient CCing. At this point I give Belfip a break and bring out my felhunter, Nheekun. I've noticed the mages are too busy pretending they're doing anything by sheeping random stuff, so they don't actually interrupt the main first targets; the healers. I put Nheekun's spell lock on manual and do the interrupts. Use your fear as much as you want, on anything. Don't bother trying to keep one target focus feared, cause eventually DR will hit and they'll be immune to it. Once you fear one NPC, swap to another. Keep your death coil ready. It's happened to me twice where three of them bunch up on you. Death coil gives you that extra second for your tanks to react.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>Twin Val'kyr</b> - Probably my favourite fight in this raid. Keep your circle up on the opposite portal for quick swapping.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>Anub'arak</b> - Nothing really special to do here. If your guild asks you to nuke the adds, dump a CoD on Anub'arak.</div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872113081481009463.post-92185087871233390902009-08-27T00:13:00.006+02:002009-09-06T15:49:59.553+02:00Not one, but TWO.. Val'kyr?<div>I thought I'd hate raidleading, I really did.</div><div><br /></div><div>To be fair, one large part of it didn't exactly tickle my fancy; the bit where you tell people to sit out. That's never fun. However, bossing people around during a fight is just, you know, awesome. It's almost like having 24 Belfips that you need to micro-manage. The first time I didn't think much of it, but yesterday I realized I was starting to enjoy it.</div><div><br /></div><div>We stepped back into the Crusaders' Coliseum again last night for the new boss: The Twin Val'kyr, Fjola Lightbane and Edyis Darkbane. It's probably my favourite fight so far in the new raid. The mechanics are interesting, and it's a very technical fight, which means you're not just standing there pushing the same four buttons. I love it.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SpgpJ1VPipI/AAAAAAAAAHA/T6ugmfkJAJY/s1600-h/twins.png"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 190px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SpgpJ1VPipI/AAAAAAAAAHA/T6ugmfkJAJY/s320/twins.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5375091404178426514" /></a><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>It's very tough to explain the tactics without having you see it for yourself, but I'll do my best. There's four portals, two light and two dark. Right clicking either will give you either a Light Essence buff, or a Dark Essence one respectively. With the Light Essence, you deal increased damage to dark targets (Edyis Darkbane) and less damage to light targets (Fjola Lightbane). You also absorb light damage done by Fjola. The Dark Essence does the opposite.</div><div><br /></div><div>Apart from the portals, there will also be little orbs of concentrated light and dark floating around. Collecting the dark orbs with the Dark Essence buff gives you stacks of a Powering Up buff. Once you reach 100 stacks you start dealing 100% more damage, however collecting any light orbs with the Dark Essence buff blows them up, dealing damage to people in a small radius. Again, the opposite happens for people with Light Essence.</div><div><br /></div><div>It all sounds easy so far, split the raid into the two essences, collect and avoid orbs, and pewpew. Fortunately, it's not just that. Every 45 seconds they use an ability which requires all the raid to think on its feet and react accordingly.</div><div><br /></div><div>The first is an aoe pulse, dealing light or dark damage every couple of seconds. The raid needs to see which of the twins is casting it, and change their Essence accordingly. If Fjola Lightbane is casting it, for example, you switch to Light Essence.</div><div><br /></div><div>The second ability is a massive heal. It's interruptible, sure, but you need to crack the shield first. Depending on which twin has the shield the raid again needs to change their essence to maximize damage and break the shield, which takes 250k damage to get rid of.</div><div><br /></div><div>Some little tips from what I've seen:</div><div><br /></div><div>Even though the twins share their health pool, you still need to split the raid, mainly for the shield. It takes a couple of seconds to switch essence and get in range of the twin, so you want to balance out the dps.</div><div><br /></div><div>You're best of staying next to a portal of your opposite essence, so that you don't need to run too much to change if needed.</div><div><br /></div><div>Healers don't really need an essence except for the aoe pusle ability. They can, instead, take the essence opposite of what the rest of their group is and help get rid of the opposite essence orbs.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/Spa7Z88KG2I/AAAAAAAAAG4/pIEBkDMFReo/s1600-h/WoWScrnShot_082609_215227.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 190px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/Spa7Z88KG2I/AAAAAAAAAG4/pIEBkDMFReo/s320/WoWScrnShot_082609_215227.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374689259842837346" /></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872113081481009463.post-65341481647141787102009-08-22T02:18:00.008+02:002009-09-17T17:32:28.014+02:00Warlocks in Cataclysm.. instant fear what?So I've been tuning in to the live stream, and I see they decided to bring up warlocks first in the class panel.<div><br /></div><div>Soul shards are GONE.. from bags!</div><div><br /></div><div>Instead we're gonna have three soul shards on cooldown per battle, which seems pretty neat. They're gonna be part of our interface, much like the death knight runes, but they only refresh out of combat. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SpE0Ly8tAdI/AAAAAAAAAFw/spnwqkQI5eo/s1600-h/shardss.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 183px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SpE0Ly8tAdI/AAAAAAAAAFw/spnwqkQI5eo/s320/shardss.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5373133207689298386" /></a><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>These shards are gonna be used for a single, 30 second cooldown ability that's off the GCD. All other spells that had a soul shard cost no longer need a shard. Once you use this, currently dubbed 'Soul Burn' spell it will power up your next spell. These are the spells it affects so far:</div><div><br /></div><div><div>Fear - Makes it instant</div><div>Death Coil - Longer horror time, and a larger heal</div><div>Summoning - Instant</div><div>Soul Fire - Instant</div><div>Searing Pain - Next three will crit</div><div><br /></div><div>These look very neat, and will definitely make soul shards fun. I'm definitely looking forward to whatever comes out from the class panels.</div><div><br /></div><div>With regards to itemization, they've also made some rather drastic changes. For one, spellpower is gone. Instead, intellect will provide spellpower, along with mana of course. We also won't be needing spirit anymore, which in a way I wasn't too happy about. I enjoy juggling many different stats.</div><div><br /></div><div>That's all I've heard for warlocks so far. I'll stay tuned tomorrow and post anything new I hear.</div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872113081481009463.post-10154305164442406702009-08-18T23:54:00.005+02:002009-08-27T16:30:02.905+02:00Belfip keeps getting in the way! It's come to my attention that some readers running on smaller resolutions are having some clipping issues with Belfip in the top left. Most notable of these are people that check their bloglines from their Blackbird or Iphone. I'll work a bit on the layout this weekend and try and get some stuff sorted. Apologies for any inconvenience Belfip may have caused, he's never been a good imp.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872113081481009463.post-84493477101984817352009-08-14T03:02:00.005+02:002009-08-14T03:37:51.941+02:00The raptor huntSo far 3.2 has given us some awesome new stuff, the largest obviously being the new raid. However there's something else in the latest patch that few people seem to have noticed; the new raptor pets.<div><br /></div><div>Sure not everyone is a pet collector, but I enjoy the company of a little anything when soloing, especially something that randomly darts off into the distance, or leaps towards you with a ferocious battle shriek.</div><div><br /></div><div>The patch has introduced eight of these awesome pets, of which so far I've obtained six. Even as I'm typing this post the seventh raptor is eluding me. Here are some screenshots of the ones I've gotten so far, along with where you can get them.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Darting Hatchling</div><div style="text-align: center;">From Dart, a rare mob in the north part of Dustwallow Marsh</div><div style="text-align: center;">Randomly darts around the area when idle</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SoS8g8TQuwI/AAAAAAAAAFg/TTYXLAIlMB8/s1600-h/WoWScrnShot_081409_030956.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 190px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SoS8g8TQuwI/AAAAAAAAAFg/TTYXLAIlMB8/s320/WoWScrnShot_081409_030956.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5369623929861225218" /></a><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Deviate Hatchling</div><div><div style="text-align: center;">From the raptors inside Wailing Caverns</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SoS8S5JYQ_I/AAAAAAAAAFY/idTZAqeDBlg/s1600-h/WoWScrnShot_081409_031005.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 190px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SoS8S5JYQ_I/AAAAAAAAAFY/idTZAqeDBlg/s320/WoWScrnShot_081409_031005.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5369623688496301042" /></a><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Leaping Hatchling</div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;">From Takk the Leaper, a rare mob in the northeastern part of The Barrens</div><div style="text-align: center;">Occasionally runs off and fiercely leaps back to you</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SoS8SV26t1I/AAAAAAAAAFQ/RvdSV9dbfT4/s1600-h/WoWScrnShot_081409_031018.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 190px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SoS8SV26t1I/AAAAAAAAAFQ/RvdSV9dbfT4/s320/WoWScrnShot_081409_031018.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5369623679023626066" /></a><br /></div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Obsidian Hatchling</div><div><div style="text-align: center;">From Breanni in Dalaran for 40g with faction discount</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SoS8SG90FuI/AAAAAAAAAFI/Ukmo2zZRiCQ/s1600-h/WoWScrnShot_081409_031033.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 190px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SoS8SG90FuI/AAAAAAAAAFI/Ukmo2zZRiCQ/s320/WoWScrnShot_081409_031033.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5369623675026020066" /></a><br /></div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Ravasaur Hatchling</div><div><div style="text-align: center;">From Ravasaur Matriarch, a rare spawn in southeastern Un'Goro Crater</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SoS8RrXbfuI/AAAAAAAAAFA/pZ4K-sSE09k/s1600-h/WoWScrnShot_081409_031045.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 190px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SoS8RrXbfuI/AAAAAAAAAFA/pZ4K-sSE09k/s320/WoWScrnShot_081409_031045.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5369623667617267426" /></a><br /></div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Razormaw Hatchling</div><div><div style="text-align: center;">From Razormaw Matriarch, a rare mob found in the cave in northeastern Wetlands</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SoS8RAJ4c5I/AAAAAAAAAE4/h8oSQjMnmmo/s1600-h/WoWScrnShot_081409_031054.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 190px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SoS8RAJ4c5I/AAAAAAAAAE4/h8oSQjMnmmo/s320/WoWScrnShot_081409_031054.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5369623656017720210" /></a><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Now I only need two more to have all the raptor pets. The last pet is the Razzashi Hatchling, another rare drop from the raptors inside Zul'Gurub. So far I didn't manage to kill a single raptor without getting killed first, as they come in packs of ten or so. I will however go in with my Death Knight once I get the Gundrak Hatchling and farm without dying!</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872113081481009463.post-63222989625082896252009-08-13T01:12:00.008+02:002009-09-06T15:49:30.300+02:00Dear WilfredYes you, Wilfred Fizzlebang. You enter the arena acting all high and mighty with your large ego. You tell us about the large fearsome doomguard you're going to summon, but use the wrong spell. Go back to level 60 and do the proper quests.<div><br /></div><div>But you weren't done there were you? Nope. Not only did you get the spell wrong, but you couldn't even control the Eredar Lord you summoned. Some elements still resemble the package I was using, but so far I'm quite pleased with the way it's turned out. </div><div><br /></div><div>Pitbull4 was really the most annoying to configure. I preferred the simple config layout of Pitbull3 much more. I was going to use the cast bar addon itself to show target auras, but it didn't have a proper filtering system and showed stuff like Aftermath, which is useless for raiding. I ended up going with a separate addon and get it looking as close as possible to the cast bar.</div><div><br /></div><div>Next thing I'll work on is the stuff on the sides; minimap, chat, omen.. that stuff. Did I mention recount? When I'm done with everything, I'll start the fine tuning the colours, which will probably take months.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872113081481009463.post-21920093730265307182009-08-10T15:59:00.012+02:002009-08-10T18:39:44.545+02:00The UI revamp<div><br /></div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SoBCURaYpbI/AAAAAAAAADo/OiTdrDsaaZ0/s1600-h/UIVamp.png"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 190px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SoBCURaYpbI/AAAAAAAAADo/OiTdrDsaaZ0/s320/UIVamp.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5368363671864518066" /></a><br /><br />So today I decided to make a bold move. I deleted my Interface and WTF folders, and emptied the recycle bin. I will stop using UI packages and instead make my own. Starting from scratch! The two aims behind this whole thing are to stop relying on updates for the UI packages I use every patch, and to learn to properly configure addons.<div><br />The biggest challenge right now is that I want to make a UI that's gonna cater to all my alts, as well as Iriya. It also needs to be somewhat usable before my next raid. I started with a short list that I'll expand as stuff goes along to keep track of what I need.<div></div><div><ul><li>Raid Leading</li><li>Raiding</li><li>Action Bars</li><li>Unit Frames</li><li>Cast Bar</li><li>Timers</li><li>OPie</li><li>Map</li><li>Buffs</li><li>Tooltips</li><li>Chat</li><li>Styling Addons</li><li>RECOUNT</li></ul><div>When taking the screenshot above I kept trying to summon Belfip using /cast summon Belfip, since I had no keybinds. It took me 5 minutes to realise why it wasn't working.</div></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872113081481009463.post-17018991674955303022009-08-09T18:06:00.004+02:002009-08-09T18:22:50.476+02:00To the death knights, warriors and paladinsPlease stop needing on anything that's plate and has strength on it. Tanks get upset when you take their +defense gear. Also, the trinket that increases your armour by 7000, fair enough, increases your AP by ~200, but there's one that increases your AP by 1000, and I'm sure you'd rather have that.<div><br /></div><div>P.S. it also makes you look like an idiot.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872113081481009463.post-37029888969137617422009-08-05T21:42:00.010+02:002009-09-06T15:48:37.191+02:00Not one, but two worms<div>So we stepped into the Coliseum today with a full raid, surprisingly, and we did eventually get the bosses down. While it wasn't difficult once we figured out the mechanics it was definitely new and exciting. Here's a quick rundown of what you're gonna be doing as a warlock in the Northrend Beasts encounter.</div><div><br /><div><br /></div><div><b>Gormok</b></div><div><ul><li>FIRE IS BAD. MOVE OUT.</li><li>Nuke the snobolds hitching a ride on fellow member's backs.</li><li>Stay away from said fellow raid members.</li><li>Keep a 15yd distance between you and the boss.</li></ul><div><br /></div></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SnoBVOgpFEI/AAAAAAAAAC8/7O6_gUeSf4o/s1600-h/WoWScrnShot_080509_211429.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 190px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SnoBVOgpFEI/AAAAAAAAAC8/7O6_gUeSf4o/s320/WoWScrnShot_080509_211429.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366603370149254210" /></a><br /></div><div><b><br /></b></div><div><b>Acidmaw and Dreadscale</b></div><div><b><br /></b></div><div>Here's where things get different. These two worms both do a different type of attack; Acidmaw casts Paralytic Toxin that eventually slow you down then stuns you, while Dreadscale casts Burning Bile, which just does periodic damage. The catch is that they neutralize each other. The easier kill order is Acidmaw then Dreadscale, one gets a 50% damage done buff when the other one dies but it's not much of a problem on the normal mode.</div><div><br /></div><div>During the first phase Dreadscale will be mobile whilst Acidmaw will be stationary. They both need to be tanked, but the mobile worm will cast his debuff on the tank, and the stationary one will cast it on random raid members. Therefore in the first phase random raid members will be getting the toxin that eventually stuns them. If this is you, you have to run to the tank tanking Dreadscale who'll have the burning bile debuff. This will neutralize the poison.</div><div><br /></div><div>After a few minutes, both worms submerge and reappear. They swap roles in the way that now Acidmaw is mobile. This means the tank will be getting the paralysis poison. Random raid members will now be getting the burning bile debuff, who have to run it to the tank to get rid of the poison.</div><div><br /></div><div>Rinse and repeat until they're both dead. Once Acidmaw dies all you have to do is heal through the burning bile debuff as there will be no more poisons.</div><div><br /></div><div>Oh and stay out of the poison clouds.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SnoRTx-p6AI/AAAAAAAAADE/G7fGJz70dz8/s1600-h/WoWScrnShot_080509_211445.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 190px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SnoRTx-p6AI/AAAAAAAAADE/G7fGJz70dz8/s320/WoWScrnShot_080509_211445.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366620937496684546" /></a><br /><div><br /></div><div><b>Icehowl</b></div><div><br /></div><div>Another straightforward, but still enjoyable boss. Force your tank to drag him to the middle and spread out around him. Every now and then he knocks the entire raid to the walls, looks at someone and charges at them. If it's you, you're smart enough to read this blog and know that you have to move. But anyone else is gonna get hit, and die. You could also be a nice warlock and tell people to move, then the boss crashes into the wall and gets stunned. At that point he takes 100% more damage so you can stay on top of the meters. It's a win/win however evil you decide to be.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" white-space: pre-wrap; font-family:monospace;font-size:13px;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SnngyEDfhWI/AAAAAAAAAC0/KXucn4PnatU/s1600-h/WoWScrnShot_080509_212330.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 190px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SnngyEDfhWI/AAAAAAAAAC0/KXucn4PnatU/s320/WoWScrnShot_080509_212330.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366567581675128162" /></a></span></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7872113081481009463.post-80387047058779696482009-08-05T03:03:00.009+02:002009-08-09T18:23:08.728+02:00Ha<div><br /></div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SnjajD1I5DI/AAAAAAAAACs/RL-6PpgJFpI/s1600-h/IPityYou.png"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 122px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FRMgwoX3y1g/SnjajD1I5DI/AAAAAAAAACs/RL-6PpgJFpI/s320/IPityYou.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366279251870409778" /></a><br /><div><br /><div>So a certain mage in the guild who never admits how aweome I am and links recount to me when he beats be because I was busy thinking of posts for the blog finally admits it. There aren't really any interesting warlock changes to boot, none that will change our dps rotations or whatnot. In a way I'd rather there was at least some very minor change that would leave us with something else to do. It'll probably get boring doing the same things we did in Ulduar all over again in the new raid. I actually haven't seen much of the PTR live streams, so I don't know what they're like, but I'm hoping that it won't be the same mechanics over and over again.<div><br /></div><div>The most game affecting change from what I've heard is the resilience one and what it's gonna do to warlocks. I've seen various people starting to whine about how awesome we're gonna be in PvP, and it wasn't worded like that, it was more like "omg you killed me in 1v1 after I've been owning you for the past 7 months, nerf". It's definitely gonna make me try out some battlegrounds again, and by battlegrounds I mean the new Isle of Conquest.</div><div><br /></div><div>I've been a fan of the whole vehicle combat thing since the release of Wrath. Malygos P3 was awesome. I think FL would be one of the funner bosses in Ulduar if he wasn't so easily tuned. The way they seem to have integrated ground combat with the whole vehicle thing in the IoC seems to be an act of genius and it's probably because one of the developers plays a warlock. How else would you explain it?</div><div><br /></div><div>The first thing I'll do tomorrow is go to the Alchemy trainer and get the new transmutes, and after that try out the new 5man. We'll be doing the new raid that evening as well, seeing as Wednesdays are raid days for us. Realm Firsts will be out of reach, as I'm sure those 'awesomer' (recruit a billion players at the start of wrath and have 100 people sitting out every night. Yes I'm exaggerating but it's mostly true) guilds will be trying to log on as soon as possible. And there's probably gonna be some more photoshopped screenshots.. like anyone cares.</div><div><br /></div><div>That's all I have to say really. The creator has updated the file a bit so all you have to do is unzip it into your addons folder, so without further delays, here it is.</div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.wowace.com/addons/quartz/tickets/15-show-damage-ticks-when-channeling-spells/">YOU CAN FEEL THE AWESOME ALREADY</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><center><object width="480" height="295"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/CzA72Nv5KFY&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999&hd=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/CzA72Nv5KFY&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999&hd=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="295"></embed></object></center>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2
